Madam Vice President. That has a nice ring to it. Being Secretary of State is a cushy job, except for all the travel. But Vice President? It’s just a heart beat away from the top job. More money. More power. I’d have Obama’s ear. Of course, I had Bill’s ear, too, back in the day. A lot of good that did me.
The word on the street is that Biden and I would swap places. He’d become Secretary of State and I would run with Barack on the ticket in the election. It’s a wonderful narrative but I have some concerns.
First, it would only take Biden about six months to screw up everything I’ve built in foreign policy. Second, I’d be stuck in the White House every day.
Been there. Done that.
