The day after

What a party. My head still hurts, but, you know, Des Moines isn’t such a bad place to celebrate New Year’s, especially if you get drunk first, which I did. I don’t remember anything past about 10:30 or 11:00, but Bill told me I had a good time. I hope he knows where I put my pantyhose.

Right after the Iowa caucuses I’m going to reinvent myself again. Instead of the candidate for change, or the candidate of experience, I think I’ll become the candidate for young people. That’ll cover everyone’s needs, a hat trick of posturing and positioning.

The party last night got me to thinking that there’s a whole group of young people and young voters and young donors that we’ve missed.  Chelsea booked this band, Big Head Todd, to play at last night’s New Year’s celebration. They showed up late for the gig but said they got lost trying to find Des Moines. Who doesn’t?

These are my kind of kids. Clean cut, short hair, muscles.  Todd, the guy with the big head, said their latest album, All the Love You Need, is dedicated to me. How can you not like kids like that?
